SURFACE PREPARATION

Almost every failure starts here

Preparation produces nothing visible, costs real money, and is the first thing removed from a cheap quotation. It is also what decides whether the system lasts.

The slab is cleaned and cracks are cut and filled. Critically, a structural check is made on the additional dead load before anything is laid, since the finished build-up is heavy and many slabs were never designed for it.

METHOD

How we apply mud phuska waterproofing

Step by step, with the specifications each stage is held to.

  1. 01

    Check the dead load first

    A 100–150 mm mud layer plus a tile finish is a substantial additional load. This is confirmed as acceptable before the work is specified, not discovered afterwards.

  2. 02

    Prepare the slab

    Cleaned, cracks cut and filled, and any exposed reinforcement treated.

  3. 03

    Lay the prepared mud to fall

    Graded and prepared mud laid at 100–150 mm to a fall toward the outlets, consolidated as it is placed.

  4. 04

    Lay the brick tile finish

    Flat brick tiles bedded in mortar over the consolidated mud layer, laid tight and true.

  5. 05

    Seal the joints

    Tile joints filled and sealed, since open joints admit water directly into the mud layer beneath and turn the insulation into a reservoir.

  6. 06

    Cure and test

    Mortar layers cured, then a ponding test with the space below observed.
