Three steps, and what actually happens in each

Atlanta Waterproofing & Protective System runs every project in three stages: inspection and diagnosis, customised solution and expert execution, then final testing and handover. The order matters. Most failures we are called to fix skipped the first stage entirely and started with a quotation.

STEP 01

Inspection & Diagnosis

Our experts visit your site, inspect the leakage or structural issue, identify the root cause, and recommend the most effective waterproofing or restoration system — no guesswork, only technical solutions.

What we actually do

  • Walk the whole affected area, not only the room that complained — water surfaces far from where it entered.
  • Establish whether the leak tracks with rainfall or with usage. Rain-linked points to the envelope; usage-linked points to plumbing.
  • Check the terrace fall, the parapet junctions and the outlets before anything else on a top-floor complaint.
  • Tap-survey plaster for hollowness, and look for efflorescence and rust staining as evidence of how long it has been wet.
  • Where structural distress is visible, recommend diagnostic testing — cover, carbonation depth, chloride, half-cell — before any repair scope is priced.
  • Give you a written scope that names the cause, not just the treatment.
STEP 02

Customised Solution & Expert Execution

We design a site-specific plan using the right materials (coatings, membranes, grouting, repairs) and execute the work with proper surface preparation and strict quality control for long-lasting results.

What we actually do

  • Select the system against the substrate, the exposure, the traffic and the movement — and say plainly when a cheaper system would do.
  • Prepare the surface properly: laitance removed, cracks cut and filled, hollow plaster hacked back to sound material.
  • Correct the falls before laying any barrier. No system survives permanent ponding.
  • Detail every junction, upturn and penetration individually — this is where buildings actually leak.
  • Respect curing periods. Coba, screeds and cementitious systems fail when this is compressed to meet a date.
  • Photograph each stage before it is covered, because none of it can be inspected afterwards.
STEP 03

Final Testing & Handover

We test the treated areas, ensure performance, and hand over the project with complete satisfaction and long-term protection assurance.

What we actually do

  • Ponding or flood test the treated area — typically held 48 to 72 hours — before any protection, screed or finish goes down.
  • Verify falls again after finishing, because falls are commonly lost during laying.
  • Measure dry film thickness on liquid-applied systems, and probe seams on membrane systems.
  • Hand over the photographic record, material datasheets and test results.
  • Walk the completed work with you and explain what to watch for.

Frequently asked

Is the site inspection really free?

Yes. The inspection and the written scope that follows it cost nothing and carry no obligation. We would rather spend an hour establishing what a building actually needs than quote blind against a description over the phone.

How long does the diagnosis take?

A single flat or terrace is usually one visit. A whole building with multiple complaints takes longer, and where structural distress is involved we will recommend diagnostic testing before committing to a repair scope. Rushing this stage is what produces the wrong system.

What if the inspection shows we do not need the work we asked for?

Then we say so. It happens regularly — a complaint blamed on the terrace turns out to be a leaking riser, or a building booked for full facade treatment needs targeted repair instead. Selling an unnecessary scope costs more in reputation than it earns.

Do you provide documentation at handover?

Yes: photographic records of every stage before it was covered, test results, material datasheets and batch certificates, and a record of thicknesses achieved. On public sector and PMC-supervised work this extends to measurement records reconciled against the schedule of quantities.
